Gimnazija Vic Knitting Circle

Through this school year, a group of Gimnazija Vič students met regularly as part of the school's knitting circle. Under the mentorship of Ms Jona Bednjanec, a celebrated creator of textile and fashion pieces in Slovenia and internationally, they learned the basic skills of hand knitting.

Those who were part of the group signed up for a range of different reasons with some having a focus on learning an important practical skill, some wanting a new outlet for their creativity, while others wanted to spend some time with their friends in a way that didn't rely on screens and modern technology.

During the sessions, the group learned a lot about general knitting skills while also taking time to discuss and demonstrate their own ideas when it comes to fashion and design. There was also a chance to learn more about the history of this important craft through the different eras.

We would like to thank Ms Badnjanec for taking the time to join us for these meetings and for helping us with both the practical and creative sides of this activity.
