There are a variety of different events and projects connected to culture and literature available for students to take part in and enjoy at Gimnazija Vič.
The visiting writers programme is one of the great success stories for the Slovene language at our school. Every year, a number of authors are invited to Gimnazija Vič to talk to students about their life and work. This is echoed by a project connected to the English department where award-winning writers from the UK are invited to give presentations and hold workshops with our students.
Regular literary events are organised in Slovene, French, and English where students perform their own work and classic pieces of literature in front of each other and with an audience of students from other schools as well.
The school is fortunate to have a well-stocked library with many titles in all the languages taught here. One of the major projects of the English department over recent years is to entirely revamp the English section with a focus on selecting contemporary fiction. This new collection of books has allowed the school’s English language book club to flourish.
Every year, new books are added to this library as part of our celebrations for World Book Night. This annual event involves students from our school as well as those invited from primary and secondary schools around Ljubljana.
