A new school year – 2024/25
Monday, 2nd September 2024 saw Gimnazija Vič open its doors for the new school year. Although teachers and other school staff had already been busy behind the scenes in the weeks leading up to the start of September, this day allowed us to officially welcome our students into the classrooms.
The returning year groups were able to meet up in their class groups to have a few hours of catching up with their classmates and to learn about their schedule for the year ahead. This was especially important for those taking up new subjects and those choosing elective courses for the first time.
For all our new students, the focus was on making sure they met up with their new class groups, had a chance to meet their teachers, and learn about how a typical day works at our school.
In addition, a range of activities were planned by our teachers and counselling staff to make sure that everyone felt welcome and had the chance to make new friends quickly. This is always important as students come to our school from numerous different primary schools and many need a chance to get to know all the new faces around them.
The biggest part of this is the “Getting to know each other” camp. For this, the different class groups are taken out into the Slovenian countryside to take part in different sports, games, and team-building exercises. This allows good connections to be made in the new classes and provides a solid foundation for their time with us in school.
Whether a new student or one who is already a member of our school community, we would like to wish everyone all the very best for the year ahead.
