This has been another successful year for the English language book club at Gimnazija Vič. Although there has been a loosely organised group like this for a long time, it is only in the past few years that it has been properly structured and it's great to see that the efforts made in this regard are definitely worthwhile.
More »The Gimnazija Vič choir has had another busy and successful year. Under the continued mentorship of Marija Mihevc, our school’s music teacher, their regular rehearsals led to a series of crowd-pleasing performances at local choral festivals and at school events like our annual concert for Christmas and New Year.

More »On Tuesday, May 19th, students and teachers from the V. Gymnasium in Zagreb, with whom we are collaborating in the Food for the Future Erasmus+ project, visited us for a one-day trip.
More »Through this school year, students from schools in three countries worked on pieces of haiku which were put forward to be part of this year's International Haiku Competition. As well as Gimnazija Vič, we were delighted to have our partner schools of Državni znanstveni licej Franceta Prešerna in Trieste, Italy and Gimnazija Pula in Pula, Croatia involved in this project for another year.
More »At the start of April, the results of this year's IATEFL English competition were announced. This is an annual project organised across Slovenia in which secondary school students in both 3rd and 4th years take part in a range of different test activities to demonstrate their knowledge and abilities when it comes to the English language.

More »On 20th April, Gimnazija Vič held its annual event linked to World Book Night. This celebration of books and reading has been a major part of our English department's calendar for over a decade and brings students from our school and others around Ljubljana together to mark special literary anniversaries while also celebrating the current generation of young writers. Although this event is normally held on 23rd April to coincide with the United Nations Day of Books and Copyright, due to other events being held in our school, the decision was made to bring it forward a few days.
More »Every year, the team behind the Slovene language drama group at Gimnazija Vič select a play to be their main event in the school calendar. For 2026, the decision was taken to perform “Bang Bang You’re Dead”, by the American playwright William Mastrosimone.
More »Through this school year, a group of Gimnazija Vič students met regularly as part of the school's knitting circle. Under the mentorship of Ms Jona Bednjanec, a celebrated creator of textile and fashion pieces in Slovenia and internationally, they learned the basic skills of hand knitting.
More »Friday, 17th April marked the conclusion of this year's National Haiku Competition with the annual event held in Cankarjev Dom, one of Slovenia's most important cultural centres.
More »The Austrian Young Physicists’ Tournament (AYPT) took place between 10 and 12 April 2026. Gimnazija Vič was represented at the competition by two of our students, Izak Roderik Štemberger and Matic Novoselec, with Jure Ausec, one of our physics teachers, as the project mentor. This made up one of only two teams from Slovenia at the event.
More »At the start of April, a group of our students went to the Slovenian Institute for Transfusion Medicine as the successful conclusion of a blood donation campaign within Gimnazija Vič.
More »Since the start of the school year, students with an interest in both physics and photography have worked on a creative project linked to a new competition within Gimnazija Vič.
